A Soft Place
There will come a time, perhaps this very moment, when you finally allow yourself some rest.
There will come a time, perhaps this very moment, when you finally allow yourself some rest. Like a bruised and broken solider returning home, you slowly remove your body armor.
As the weight lifts, you can finally take a breath, and then another, and suddenly you’re breathing again.
And underneath the heaviness that was placed upon you, is your own soft naked skin. And you begin to notice your true form; your warmth, your breath, your beating heart.
You’re still alive, after everything. How is it possible to live through what you’ve lived through? You’ve carried the wounds like the brave solider that you are. But now dear one, the war is over.
Lay them down, or you’ll go on trudging through minefields that no longer exist.
After everything, you’ve made it home.
Dear Weary and Tired,
You are wrapped into God. He places a warm blanket over your shoulders. He slowly walks over to the kitchen and makes you a cup of coffee. “Or do you prefer tea?” He asks. The steam slowly rises. He walks back to you and places it in your hand, smiling right into your eyes. You take a sip and feel the warmth of the liquid love flowing through you. You feel warm and safe. You take a long deep breath; the one you’ve been holding for far too long, and you begin to release it all. He sits beside you, his right arm around you, all the power of the universe loving you right now. There is no where else to be, nothing else to do than simply being here in this moment, with the one who loves you the most. You are wrapped in the comfort of heaven.
As you take your time resting and sipping your drink, He gently speaks:
I am your soft place; a sanctuary of rest. I cover you in gentleness and tender kindness. You are safe in my embrace. It’s time to release all you’ve been holding, secretly carrying; weight from the past, anxiety for the future, fear in the moment. Release one by one to me. They are no longer true. They are no longer a part of you. Darling, I never asked you to carry them. I only ever wanted you to be free, to walk through your days with a light heart; a heart at home in my love. I am comforting you, even in this moment, closer than your skin. I am here, always. So take all the time you need. You are surrounded by love, infused with love, and love will be your story.
It’s safe to be yourself now. I am gentle with you. It is my gentleness that is transforming you. I will show you all the ways I am gentle and kind. I promise I will always be gentle and kind to you. I am a father, but I am also like a mother. I am here to nurture you. I kiss your forehead and hold you close. You experience my softness and peace. Like the sunlight dancing through a window, like a tree lightly swaying in the spring breeze, like the fur of a cat, I am showing you just how gentle I am.
Take another breath, another sip. Take as long as you need. There’s no where else I’d rather be.

I just reread this today. I’m grateful for these words. For your talent. For your voice. For you.
